Rapeseed is a bright-yellow flowering member of the family Brassicaceae (mustard or cabbage family) and has been grown in Britain and Europe for hundreds of years as animal feed and to protect and improve soils for future crops.

Eco - Credentials

Rapeseed wax is made from the oil that is harvested from the rapeseed plant.  It is sustainable (obtained from a natural, renewable material that isn’t intensively farmed), non GMO, vegan, biodegradable, harmless to wildlife and because it is grown locally in the UK and Europe, it has a lower carbon footprint than other imported plant waxes.  Best of all, the Bee's and pollinators  love it!  Rapeseed fields support our precious Bee and pollinator populations, who thrive on the nectar that the rapeseed flowers produce. The well-being of our natural ecosystems is intrinsically tied to the health and vitality of bees and other pollinators.

Benefits

There are many benefits to using rapeseed wax in scented candles, such as…

  • It has exceptionally good hot and cold throw, which basically means your candle smells great when lit or not.

  • The wax burns at a low temperature so the fragrance evaporates gently from the wax pool, which makes the aroma linger for longer.

  • Lower burn temperature also results in a longer lasting candle, giving you excellent value for money.  When your candle is finished, any remaining wax can be carefully poured into a wax melt burner for even more hours of wonderful fragrance.

  • It delivers a clean, smoke and soot free burn and does not emit any harmful fumes into the air when burned.

  • It is biodegradable, so when your candle is finished, any remaining wax can be carefully poured into the food waste bin or compost.
